Registered Massage FAQs
How is a massage appointment structured?
Your appointment begins with a short intake and chat with Alex about your health history, goals, and any specific areas of concern. You’ll then be given privacy to get comfortable on the table. After the massage, you may receive simple stretches or self-care suggestions to help extend the benefits of your treatment at home.
Do I need to remove my clothing?
Most Swedish and hot stone massages are performed directly on the skin with professional draping to ensure privacy and comfort. If you prefer to remain partially or fully clothed, Alex can adjust her techniques and is happy to discuss options during your intake.
Is facial or buccal massage okay if I have acne?
If you have active, inflamed, or cystic acne, a Advanced Facial treatment focused on calming the skin may be a better starting point than facial massage. Increased circulation and massage oils can sometimes aggravate active breakouts. We’ll help you choose the best approach for your skin at the time of booking.
Why is it called buccal massage?
“Buccal” refers to the buccinator muscle in the cheek area. Buccal massage involves working on the muscles inside and outside of the mouth to help address tension in the cheeks and jaw area. This is always done with gloves, consent and within your comfort level.
Are the massages covered by my health insurance?
All the treatments listed, except Skin Upgrade, are covered by insurance. Coverage depends on your individual extended health plan.
